The World Health Organization (WHO) has declared monkeypox (Mpox) a global health emergency.

According to the World Health Organization, a new variant of monkeypox is spreading in 13 African countries. Currently, the spread of monkeypox in the African country of the Congo is continuing rapidly.

On the other hand, Africa's Center for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC) says that there is a need for one million doses of monkeypox vaccine in Africa, but there are currently only 2 lakh doses, working to ensure the availability of the vaccine.

Africa CDC says that more than 15,000 cases of monkeypox have been reported in Africa this year and 461 deaths have occurred, this number is 160% higher than the same period last year and so far in 18 countries. People affected by this disease have come forward.

On the other hand, 9 cases of monkeypox have been reported in Pakistan so far and one death has occurred.

Measures have also been decided to prevent Mpox and other diseases including Zika virus at all entry points of Pakistan.

The National Command and Operations Center (NCOC) has issued an alert to the Border Health Services after increasing cases of monkeypox worldwide and the outbreak of Zika virus in India.

NCOC officials have issued instructions to monitor travelers coming to Pakistan from abroad and to quarantine suspected monkeypox patients in special wards.
